Ok. So although I’m closing in on what I want this site to be, I’m not happy with how it looks. WordPress is a powerful blogging platform, but it’s incredibly challenging for the uninitiated to bend it satisfactorily.
I’m in the process of redesigning the site from the ground up, which will probably take a while. In the meantime, we’ll just stick with how it looks now. I’m working on an Apache server running locally, so you won’t see the changes I make until the new site is ready to launch. I figured that was the best way to work, as it bothers me when I leave the site unfinished while I’m tinkering with changes.
To hold you over - all six of you - how about some input on new logo designs? I pieced a few ideas together yesterday - let me know what you think. Leave a comment and tell me what you like and don’t like.

Hiatus
(n) : a break or pause; a gap in a series, making it incomplete
Now that I’m freelancing full-time, I’ve found it increasingly difficult to update Ectotechnica. It’s time-consuming, and the adage “Time is money” reminds me that it is also money-consuming. I’ll continue posting updates whenever I can, but they will likely be few and far between.
Building this website is something I have genuinely enjoyed doing, and want to return to. Believe me, if I could make maintaining Ectotechnica profitable, I wouldn’t be posting this (rest assured, I tried). In the future, that may be possible, but the reality is that it isn’t going to generate an income for me any time soon.
Thanks to everyone who has taken the time to visit. I’ll keep you updated.
EDIT: Here’s the idea: I’m going to illustrate my post headings. No more photos - just hand-drawn line art. They’ll be quick and dirty (but satisfying) illustrations like the one you see here. Hopefully this will let me combine Ectotechnica with my desire to get some drawing done every day.
Thoughts?

Alright consumers, the end of the technology world is nigh:
Tuesday at the Macworld conference, [Apple] introduced the iPhone, a buttonless, black-and-chrome handheld combining a mobile phone, a wide-screen video iPod and a palm-top computer. The present Mac faithful roared in appreciation.
“Today we’re introducing three revolutionary products,” Jobs said moments before unveiling the device. “A new iPod, a phone and an internet communicator. These are not three separate devices — we call it the iPhone.”
Released in conjunction with Cingular Wireless (At&T), the actual iPhone will instantly eliminate your need to ever look forward to another portable personal electronic device. It will be available in June 2007.

I’ve seen plenty of Final Fantasy fan videos, but nothing comes close to the genius of Mark Leung’s College Saga.
If you’ve ever played any iteration of the Final Fantasy series - on any platform - then there’s nothing I need to say to preface this for you. If you haven’t, then all you need to know is that this is flipping awesome.
