100,000 Hits. Wow.

Amazing! Sometime yesterday, Ectotechnica’s statcounter clicked over the 100,000 hits mark! I knew it was coming up soon, and I had hoped to make a big deal out of the 100,000th visitor, but I missed it. I was all set to post a picture with baloons and confetti and the IP address of lucky reader #100,000 - but I forgot completely.
Now, the $500 gift certificate to Circuit City and the “I was number 100k” t-shirt I had printed will just end up being Christmas presents for somebody. Except the $500 gift certificate. I’m giving it to the dog - she’s been thinking about getting a digital camera.
In any case, thanks to everyone who has taken the time to visit the site. You guys are the best.
And my sincere thanks to Patrick and Chad for adding so much to Ectotechnica. You’ve made this place 10 times better than it was.
Let’s see how fast we can get to 200,000!

Well, I guess it helps that I check the site hundreds of times each day under different aliases…alii? Alia? Aliass? Who am I kidding? I don’t even know the plural of alias. I could never pull over such a cleaver deception. You must just be wildly popular instead! You guys are doing a great job! Congratulations!

Thanks, Case!
For a niche blog with a small regular readership, I think 100,000 in just over a year is pretty good. We haven’t done a great job at writing as often as we should (me in particular), but hopefully that will improve.
Any suggestions from the peanut gallery on how to make this thing better?

Face the simple facts. Patrick logs into every computer in the Knox County library and reads his own article multiple times to help inflate his own shameless ego. And the simple fact that you referenced “Circuit City” in your article, shows the countless corporate marketing that somewhere google has just logged in “circuit city” and “ectotechnia” so if someone in Bangladesh just happens to search for both items your article and your over inflated counter will proceed to click upwards. It is a vicious cycle.
But the site is great overall and I always enjoy reading everyone’s satarical takes on the topics.
I want a t-shirt. It needs something witty on the back if the “I was number 100K” is on the front.

I just want everyone to know that you’re exactly right, Chris.

Dude, John. I can’t believe you even remember that.
I can’t believe anyone would remember that. Ha.
